The Seventies: Literature Crisis and Some Proper Nouns*
By Daniel Link
"As historians well remember, the decade of the seventies is to Argentines a "long" one. Further to the methodological difficulties historiography runs into to isolate the period, analysts and critics of culture and art also face the danger of articulating mechanically factual processes and symbolic productions which don't have the same rhythms nor admit the same determinations. Therefore, we will here endeavor to track in the literary texts some indices of the different transformations that would permit speaking of something like "the literature of the seventies", with the conviction that, in a peculiar and elliptical way, literature comments and represents its own production conditions: massive literature and media, technologies and utopias, literary genres and political scenes".
